About Woody Guthrie......born July 14, 1912.  Woody was a dust bowl 'refugee' who became America's leading troubadour for the poor and disadvantaged.  Woody wrote hundreds of songs, and sang at many union organizing meetings.  He is the most highly regarded folk singer of the 20th century.  Woody visited Chico in 1937 & 1938 and sang to the migrant farm workers.  Just some of his followers were Pete Seeger,  Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Bob Dylan, Billy Bragg, Wilco and many more.  His son Arlo remains a popular singer today.  Perhaps Woody's greatest song was 'This Land is Your Land'.  He died in the late 1960's of Huntington's Chorea.
